To whom it may concern,
Please consider the opportunity to extend Redfish with the following option: boot from a CD-ROM image over SMBv2.
Thank you for the opportunity to share our use case directly with you.
Yours sincerely,
NOTE
The claim that Redfish 1.0.1 supports SMBv1 only is supported by evidence from packet captures.
In the case of Windows 10, "negotiate protocol request" includes three dialects: NT LM 0.12 (a.k.a. SMBv1), SMB 2.002 and SMB 2. (a.k.a. SMBv3), followed by a successful "negotiate protocol response" for dialect SMB 2.002.
In the case of RedFish 1.0.1, "negotiate protocol request" includes the dialect NT LM 0.12 only, followed by a "negotiate protocol response" error from the server.
In both cases, the CD-ROM image was served from a now standard SMBv2 server.

Is this for a system boot method / option, or for VirtualMedia support?
We don't have SMB (v1/v2) listed at all in the VirtualMedia TransferProtocolType enumerations - but if it's needed we can add that.
